Romanian Road Safety Charter - RRSC

The Romanian Road Safety Charter is a Romanian participatory platform made up of enterprises, associations, research institutions and public authorities. These actors undertake to carry out concrete actions and share their good practices in order to resolve the road safety problems that they encounter in their day-to-day environments.

In 2007, approximately 2,800 people died in traffic accidents in Romania, representing 129 people per million inhabitants, while the average number at European level is 86. Pedestrians are a major concern, representing 40% of road accident fatalities, while the average at European level is 20%. Excessive speed and mixed traffic (different means of transport) also contribute to the number of road accidents, fatalities and injuries.

The objective of the Charter is to help reduce road fatalities. Join this community in action!
